Team chat priced per message instead of per seat

Here’s a free billion-dollar startup idea for you... Reinvent Microsoft Teams or Slack. But, instead of charging $4-$8 per user, charge per message or per new channel. Enterprise messaging is a multi-billion dollar market, but it's broken. CFOs are tearing their hair out trying to cut costs. Employees get mini heart attacks every time they’re added to another channel. It’s chaos. Imagine this...fewer messages, fewer channels. Meetings are more productive, focus time is sacred, and companies save a ton of money. Everyone’s happier. The entire brand is about quiet and happiness. You make the logo a freaking bright yellow sunshine. All features are designed to be more productive. Maybe you even partner with productivity influencer like an Ali Abdaal or Tim Ferriss So, this idea of taking market share from Slack/Teams is top of mind right now. Some of my fav entrepreneurs are going after it. Jason Fried launched Campfire with a $399 lifetime deal. Amazing, but not everyone wants to host their own software. Too much hassle for most. David Sacks tried Glue AI, adding more features but sticking with the same old $7/month model. Competing on features is tough when you're competing against Slack. They've already shiped AI-powered search, conversation summaries and recaps. My last company was a group chat app. Competing with WhatsApp, Discord, and others in a feature race was brutal. Lesson learned for me: You never want to be in a feature race unless you have endless funding. Here’s the takeaway.. Sometimes, it’s not about reinventing the product. It’s about changing the business model. Imagine the CFO of a mid-sized company discovering they can save thousands by switching to a pay-per-use model. No more per-user licenses. Teams are less distracted, more productive. The CFO will push for this. Teammates will push for it. That's how you build sales momentum. I hope someone takes this free idea... or at least finds another category and just flips the business model on its head. Agree or disagree with me? We can make the replies a nice creative zone.
